I Can't Afford Louis Vuitton, so I can't be interested in fashion?

Just because you can't afford to shop at Louis Vuitton or Gucci or any other designer store doesn't mean you can't have an interest in fashion. Likewise, just because you can afford to purchase designer clothes doesn't automatically a fashion guru.

The reason I'm writing this post is because of the increasing amount of fashion snobbery I see daily on the internet. So called 'fashion experts' bashing smaller bloggers because they talk about affordable fashion instead of top designer goods. Yes I know I'm a smaller blog and therefore I am slightly biased, but that's irrelevant and I still have a point.

I get so irritated by people that define fashion by the the price tag an item holds. Some of us don't have the luxury of being able to afford a $1000 bag or be able to wear a scarf that's worth more than an average month's wages. It shouldn't matter where you shop, as long as you feel confident in whatever you decide to wear.

If the price is the only thing that's important then what about people who shop in vintage stores? I bought a Levi jacket for £20 once, that's designer does that count? At one point it was probably worth 10 times what I paid for it.

People are too quick to judge another person based solely on the amount of money that they have, and it isn't fair.

Honestly, I'm not the most confident person in the world and don't have a lot of money to spend on clothing. But that doesn't mean that I don't care about what I wear or that I don't take pride in my appearance. If I had the money I would pitch a tent and live in Louis Vuitton!

The point I'm trying to make is that to judge someone based on how much they can afford is stupid. Just because some people have the opportunity to be able to afford high end designer clothes doesn't mean they're better or more fashionable than someone who doesn't have the opportunity.

On the flip side, not everyone who can afford the most expensive clothing is a judgmental and are exempt from my rant.

Have any of you guys felt this way? Let me know in the comments.

  1. we absolutely agree with you! As they say, "it aint abut the price tag...". Money definitely cannot buy style. It is how you wear it not how much it costs that counts. Just look at some celebs who have all the money in the world yet they are still prone to a few fashion slip ups. great rant!!

    1. Absolutely! People should be able to feel great in whatever they wear whether that be last years stock or brand new designers. Thanks for commenting :)
